What are polarized sunglasses, who is wearing them and why are they wearing them. The fact is that this futuristic style of glasses is the new “in”. These hot and stylish glasses are the way to go when choosing sunglasses for one very good reason…. they help keep your eyes safe from the sun’s harmful rays..

You see, the sun omits rays that are all over the visible and invisible light spectrum. The visible light is what affects us instantly and what bounces off of surfaces like glass, snow and water. When the light shoots off these surfaces it polarizes meaning the glare gets stronger, and the light appears brighter and this glare can damage the eyes. So what can we do? Pick up a pair of polarized sunglasses.

Me personally, I love them, and I know a lot of people who love them too. But are these lenses worth the extra money? We can answer that with another question… how much are your eyes worth? Survey says 95% of fishermen prefer polarized lens over regular ones. They reduce damage from glare and make the water more transparent, and that makes it easier to see fish and rocks.

After the July 4th holiday has ended we shall not forget those that serve and protect our Independence and freedom every day. This holiday weekend led me to think about the war and all those who have perished for our country not just this war but all veterans who have served this country. It is only a few times a year that we recognize these unique individuals, but I feel it is not enough for all they sacrifice for our freedom.

These individuals have stories and reasons as to why they feel it is so important to protect our country. As a mother of boys I wonder how I would feel about one of them serving in any of the armed forces. It pains me so to see the losses of our troops, but I also know that they are fighting to protect us. I am grateful to the families that support them and honor those who have lost family members. On behalf of the CLE team I would like to say thank you to all our troops, and you have our support. God Bless America!

Musicians like Lindsay Lohan, Kanye West in his get down music video, Rihanna lounging on the beach & even the late Michael Jackson were found sporting the timeless Ray Ban sunglasses.
Actors and Actresses such as Twilight’s Robert Pattinson & his Co-Star Kristen Stewart can both be found sporting Ray Bans also. And who can forget Tom Cruise sporting his Ray Ban Aviators in Top Gun, or the original Wayfarer’s in Risky Business.

Spiderman’s James Franco as well as Harry Potter and one of today’s biggest stars Simon Cowell, on the American Idol finale are sporting there Ray Ban’s
Even the President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are sporting the stylish sleek and sexy Ray Bans.

With allergy season upon us in full force, many contact lens wearers are experiencing red, itchy watering eyes. The best course of action will depend on the individual and the severity of symptoms.

Allergies are caused by chemicals called antigens that create a physiological reaction resulting in symptoms. These are usually ocular redness, tearing and most often itchiness. The best way to decrease allergic reactions is to avoid the antigen. Environmentally, this becomes quite difficult unless one stays in side all the time with the air conditioner on. The other alternative is the reduce the offending agent, interfere with the physiological reaction and treat the symptoms.

Soft contact lenses absorb matter and act as a reservoir for the antigens, slowly releasing them into the eye. Therefore, the type of lens and cleaning methods play a major role in step number one. In very bad allergies, daily disposable contact lenses work well since they are replaced with out any secondary contact with the eye.The other alternative is to wear a very good quality lens that sheds there deposits. Gas permeable lenses work the best in this regard.

Cleaning the lenses is part two. Since allergies trigger certain reactions, and most people with an allergy to one thing will frequently be allergic to other things as well, the best solution for cleaning lenses in allergic folks is a hydrogen peroxide system. Solutions such as AOSept, Oxysept and clear care are the most commonly used for this purpose.

Treatment pharmacologically is the third and most physically rewarding of these steps. In bad allergies, the first step is often with a mild topical steroid eye drop. These can be used for several days to 1-2 weeks depending on the severity of the case. This will bring relief to the patient while reducing or eliminating contact lens wear concomitally. The next step is to begin a long term therapy to maintain comfort and reduce the allergixc symptoms. This is best done with a drop like Patanol or Pataday. These drups reduce the symptoms while blocking the chemical reaction. These drops can be used for prolonged periods of time.

In short, when allergies strike, stop contact lens wear and see your eye doctor as soon as possible. Enjoy your summer!!

Did you know that a pair of sunglasses can improve your chances of getting, how can we say this…. “amorous attention” from both men & women. You read that correctly, in a recent survey conducted on five (5) college campuses in North America it was determined that sunglasses made both men & women more attractive.

Some of the “sexiest” sunglasses voted for by these college students were the Ray Ban Aviator (Arista) color, the Ray Ban Jackie Ohh2 style sunglasses, the Oakley Gas Can style sunglasses and the Oakley Inmate style sunglasses.
